Karl R. Underhill Sr., 93, of Lewistown, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.

He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Long Island, N.Y., a son of the late Michael P. and Ruth (Schaeffer) Underhill. He was married to the former Ethel A. Daniscak who preceded him in death in 2005.

Karl served in the Army and was stationed in the Pacific during World War II as a paratrooper.

Earlier in life, he was a truck driver and a farmer. He then started his own business, Karl Underhill Sr. Excavating that he owned and operated for 50 years.

He was a member of Bakers United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Post 941, McClure.

Karl enjoyed going out to eat with his family.

He is survived by Karl R. Underhill Jr., of McClure, Glenn C. Underhill of Middleburg, Patricia Bartell of McClure, Deborah Wray and husband, Lynn, of McClure, Donna M. Wert and husband, Jeffrey, of Milroy, Gary R. Underhill and wife, Erica, of Mifflinburg; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Seebold and husband, Donald, of New Berlin, Glenn C. Underhill and wife, Joan, of McClure, and Ann Miller and husband, Glenn, of Mifflinburg; son-in-law, Edward Bartell and wife, Marsha, of McClure.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray A., Michael P., Robert J., Gerald J., and George A. Underhill; one grandson, Eddie Bartell; and two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Underhill and Dot Underhill.

Per Karl's wishes, no services will be held.

Interment will take place at Baker United Methodist Church.
