Karen D. Long, 62, of Lancaster, entered the kingdom of Heaven to walk alongside her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Sunbury, a daughter of Robert and Leona (Wynn) Shaffer. She was the loving wife of Raymond C. Long Sr. with whom she shared more than 33 years of marriage.
Karen was a graduate of Line Mountain High School and later attended Elizabethtown College.
Along with her husband Ray, they owned and operated Rayco Process Services since 1985.
Karen's faith was very important to her and she was very involved at the Connection Christian Church in Lancaster where she played the piano, served on the worship team and volunteered in various ways.
She enjoyed playing the piano, hosting parties, but most of all her joy in life was spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Raymond C. Long Jr., husband of Hope of Millersville; two daughters, Karen T. Wilson, wife of Brian of Pequea and Natasha Long, of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Hunter, Brooke, Cole, and Taylor; one sister, Melanie Peters, wife of Scott of Elizabethville; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Connection Christian Church, 551 Abbeyville Road, Lancaster. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Karen's memory may be made to the church at the above address.
