June M. Buckles Obituary

June M. Buckles, 83, of Boy Scout Road, Sunbury, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at home.


June was born Oct. 6, 1941, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Woodrow C. and Alice (Johnson) Russo. On Oct. 31, 1959, she married William E. Buckles Jr. who preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2020, breaking a 60-year marital union.


She was a member of St. Elias Church, Sunbury.


June was an avid fan of Penn State football and the Philadelphia Phillies, she enjoyed Bill Gaither Gospel music and the Family Feud.


She is survived by her daughters, Veronica Weikel (Richard), Nancy Lahr (Boyd) and Connie Martz; grandchildren, Shannon, James, Randal, Shandra, Amanda, Curtis, Ashley and Joshua, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ellie Miller (Tom).


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carole Rowe.


A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at St. Elias Evangelical and Reformed Church, 2016 Church Road, Sunbury, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Clair Shaffer officiating.


Interment will follow in St. Elias Church Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers donations in June's memory may be made to her church, St. Elias Evangelical and Reformed Church, 2016 Church Road, Sunbury, PA 17801.


Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
