On May 27, 2016, just weeks away from her 97th birthday, June B. Finn was rejoined by death with her husband and best friend James (Jim) B. Finn. Jim passed away on June 7, 2010 (Junes birthday), shortly after they celebrated one last milestone together. Since then, he has been waiting patiently for June to join him, much like the many times he'd sit on the mall benches waiting for June to finish shopping for her most recent Alfred Dunner outfits. Married on July 7, 1938, they create such a strong bond that it was unusual for anyone to refer to one without the other. As in life, they are being remembered and their lives honored as one entity, Jim and June Finn.

Jim and June were residents of 230 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg and Shady-Nook, Selinsgrove, spent their winters in Vero Beach, Fla., and several years in Seattle, Wash. Jim and June are survived by their daughter, Jane (Finn) Campbell and her husband Gary, of Winfield, daughter-in-law, Julie Finn-Whalen and her husband Mike, of Mifflinburg; grandchildren, Araminta Finn and her spouse Whitney Hahn of Frederick, Md., Michael Campbell of New Orleans, La., Jeffrey Finn and his wife Katherine, of Gainesville, Fla., and Jordan Campbell of Upper Montclair, N.J.; great-grandchildren, JoBeth and Mia Campbell, Kayla and Madison Finn, and Gavin and Blake Campbell; Jims brother, John Finn; nephews and nieces, and their French daughter, Danielle Desestre. Jim and June were sadly preceded in death by their son, James Emerick Finn and grandson, Jeremy Scott Finn. Also preceding them in death were their parents, Jim's sister, Audrey (Finn) Troutman and June's, sister Ethel (Emerick) Lewis.

Jim was born on July 30, 1914 in Renovo, Pa., to John Erastus and Clara Elizabeth (Bogar) Finn, raised on the Finn Farm in Port Trevorton, and graduated from Selinsgrove High School in 1932. He received his bachelors from Lock Haven University in 1937, masters degree from Bucknell University in 1943, and post-graduate work at Penn State University and Lehigh University. Jim began his career teaching mathematics and science at Lower Mahanoy Township High School, where he met June, married, and started their family. In 1947, Jim began his long career as a public education administrator, first as Supervising Principal of Lower Mahanoy Township, then High School Principal of the newly formed Mahanoy Joint School District, Supervising Principal of Tri-Valley Schools, Valley View, PA, Assistant Superintendent of the Snyder County Schools, and Superintendent of Union County Schools. In 1971, he was appointed Assistant Executive Director of the newly formed Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU). In that capacity, he managed a number of grant-funded programs and took the lead in contracts negotiations. Known a tough negotiator and no-nonsense administrator, Jim was also known to have a great smile and sense of humor. He was active in community volunteering and civic organizations and received many honors over the years, both for professional and civic achievements. However, one of his most cherished honors was the Tom Selleck Look-Alike Award bestowed upon him by the CSIU administrative assistant staff. At the age of 64, Jim retired from the CSIU, but returned several times for special projects and was also employed as acting superintendent of local school districts. In 1990, at the age of 76, he retired for the final time and switched his focus to extensive research of the family genealogy, enjoying time with June and his family, and boating on the Susquehanna River in the summers and the Indian River in the winters.

June was born June 7, 1919 in Dalmatia, Pa., to Clarence Eugene and Katie Rebecca (Bingeman) Emerick. She graduated from Lower Mahanoy Township High School, Dalmatia in 1937 and the Central Pennsylvania Business School, Harrisburg. June later studied piano at Susquehanna University and for many years taught piano lessons and was the organist at Dalmatia's Trinity Lutheran/Reformed Church. June worked as an administrative assistant at various times, but primarily devoted her time to Jim, Jimmy, Jane, and all their friends who were always welcome in the Finns home. June volunteered countless hours at school functions, church events, was scout leader for both Jimmy and Jane, Sunday School teacher, choir mother, and chauffeur. She made every holiday a memorable event and created handcrafted decorations, most notably decorated eggs that are still pulled out every Easter to create Easter Egg Trees. June was as comfortable filling their home with the sound of classical music as she was feverishly pulling night-crawlers from under rocks. She had a quick sense of humor and pulled pranks that the family still share and laugh about. For decades, she and Jim enjoyed sporting around in one of a series of MG's, their hair blowing in the wind and, in later years, with Junes walker strapped on the trunk of the car.

Jim and June will be memorialized by their family and friends on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at noon, when both of their ashes will be interred in the Trinity United Church of Christ, Dalmatia Cemetery.
