Judy R. Whipple, 76, of Highland Avenue, Sunbury, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, in her home.
Judy was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Irvin R. and Alverna R. Knouse. On June 28, 1970, she married Frederick Whipple Jr. and they shared 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.
She was a 1966 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
Judy was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ in Sunbury.
She worked in retail for K-Mart for almost 30 years. She was also an independent consultant for Tupperware and Princess House.
Judy was a volunteer for Boy Scouts of America and the American Red Cross and organized their blood drives.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nichole and Tim Boyer; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Samantha Whipple; grandchildren, Alicia, Memphis, Alexis (Manny), Tyler and David; great-grandchild, Rosalyn; and her best friend, Sally Frey.
A viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 160 Chestnut St., Sunbury and again Friday, Dec. 27 from 10 to 11 a.m. where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
