Jolene Dawn (Messimer) Parrales Obituary
Jolene Dawn (Messimer) Parrales, 37, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly of Sunbury, Pa., passed away May 27, 2020, at St. Rose Siena Hospital, Henderson, from complications due to brain surgery.
She was born Dec. 19, 1982, in Annapolis, Md., a daughter of Steven L. Messimer, of Henderson, and his wife, the late Cindy Messimer, and Sheree L. (Rhodes Messimer) Snyder and her husband Larry R. Snyder Jr., of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was the wife of Ulices Parrales, of Henderson.
Jolene was an inspiration to many people in her lifetime. She was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) when she was 18 months old. She fought a tough battle to remain mobile throughout her life. She rarely complained about her chronic pain and NEVER used it as an excuse. Her strength and determination defined her young life. She was a warrior.
Jolene graduated from Shikellamy High School and worked part-time at Weis Markets in Sunbury during her teen years. After graduation from high school in 2000, she moved to California to attend college. She graduated from Solano Community College in Fairfield, Calif., in 2002. She then moved to Las Vegas and graduated with a bachelor's degree from UNLV in 2005. During her college years and after graduation, she worked for and was very dedicated to Target Corp. Jolene had a huge impact on many co-workers throughout her years at Target and she enjoyed many different positions while employed there.
Her career was everything to her until she met her husband, Uli, in Las Vegas. Their son, Nathan, was born in 2010 and Jolene put a lot of effort into being an amazing mom. She loved her son and her husband more than anything. Jolene and her family took many vacations, traveling all over the country every chance they could.
In February 2020, Jolene was diagnosed with brain cancer. She fought this fight as hard as she possibly could, but she didn't win this battle.
Surviving in addition to her parents, husband and son, are her sister and best friend, Dana C. (Messimer) Doebler and her husband Steven J., of Colorado Springs; and siblings, Patrick Messimer and Leanne Messimer, both of Henderson.
Jolene will be missed, she will be loved and thought about by many friends and family. We will remember her smile, her unique strength and she will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A private service is being planned in the future.
Donations in Jolene's memory can be made to the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation.
