Milton, Pennsylvania - John "Jack" Thomas, 83, of Prospect Ave., Milton, passed away on Aug. 4, 2025, at his home. Born in Pottsville on Nov. 21, 1941, he was the son of the late John W. and Mildred E. (Dando) Thomas. He was married on Nov. 14, 1987, to the late Lois (Olney) Thomas.

Jack graduated from Pottsville High School in 1959 and from West Chester State College with his bachelor's degree in 1963 and his master's degree in 1970. He was very community-minded in many ways over the years. During the 1972 Hurricane Agnes flood, he volunteered for the Red Cross. For 14 years, he was the Judge of Elections in Milton's 3rd Ward. In the creative arts, he was one of four co-founders of Milton's community theater: Milton Area Theater of the Arts, or MATOTA. He was the choir director for the First Presbyterian Church. For 25 years, he sang with the Buffalo Valley Singers and became the head of the baritones. During his 35 years as a music teacher in the Milton School District, he restarted the Junior High choral program. He served as Secretary Treasurer for District 8 of PMEA and was political chairman for the Milton Area Education Association.

Jack is survived by a son, John R. Thomas and wife, Karen, of Paxtang; a daughter, Krista L. Cagg and husband, Steve, of Milton; a sister, Doris A. Thomas, of Pottsville; and two grandchildren, Aubrie and JT Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Robert C. Thomas.
