John Parkinson Jr. Obituary

Milton, Pennsylvania - John G. "Pap" Parkinson Jr., 89, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 17, 2026, with family and his dog, Bella, by his side.

Born June 10, 1936, in Jeannette, Pa., to John G. Parkinson Sr. and Myrtle Hertzog, he was a proud Marine Corps veteran. He shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Carol, and was a proud father to Cindy, John and Jeff. As an owner-operator truck driver, John taught himself vehicle maintenance and traveled to all 50 states.

He coached baseball, football and soccer for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading, watching college sports and rebuilding classic kit cars.

In retirement, he and Carol continued exploring the world together on cruises and at one point had visited every casino in the United States. He especially enjoyed playing poker.

John was hardworking, dependable and deeply devoted to his family. He built the log cabin home he always dreamed of and proudly passed away there.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; sister, Lynn; children, Cindy, John and Jeff; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim.

Following John's wishes, there will be no services.

Arrangements are under the care of Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
