John Ebersole Obituary

Trevorton, Pennsylvania - John J. Ebersole, 80, of Trevorton, passed away on July 29, 2026, at Geisinger, Danville. Born on Jan. 18, 1946, in Trevorton, he was a son of the late Joseph O. and Clara (Latsha) Ebersole.


John proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a man of the Holiness faith. John began his working career as a coal miner before becoming a forklift operator at Wilhold Inc., where he worked for more than 26 years. He later worked for Furman's, from where he retired. He was a life member of the Trevorton American Legion and a former member of the Trevorton VFW. An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he played the trumpet and later enjoyed collecting coins, following NASCAR, and spending time with his bingo buddies playing bingo.


John will be lovingly remembered by his children, Wendy Paul (Robert), Barbara Sampsell (the late Dean), Tammy Ebersole, John Ebersole Jr. (Tiffany), and Paul Ebersole (Kelly); a brother, Howard Ebersole; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, William, Joseph, Margaret, and Ruth Ebersole; and his beloved dog Elmer.


A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Foust Funeral Home, LLC. 841 W. Shamokin St. Trevorton, with a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Trevorton. A memory tribute may be placed at www.foustcares.com.
