Joan Straub Obituary

Milton, Pennsylvania - Joan Apgar Straub, 74, of Milton, went to be with her Lord and savior on February 12, 2025, at Hillside Senior Living in Montoursville. Born in Trenton, N.J., on August 23, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Donald H. and Marion (Johnson) Apgar. She was married on August 1, 2020, to the late Ricky J. Johnson who passed away on November 25, 2020.

Joan graduated from Morrisville High School, she earned a bachelor's degree from West Chester State College, and a master's degree from Bloomsburg University. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Lewisburg. Joan was strong in her Christian faith and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milton. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club in Milton. She enjoyed traveling to new places and learning about them, she liked reading, and she enjoyed going to the Milton Boat Club, going boating and tubing, and just being by the river.

She is survived by a sister, Janet Tootell of Hermosa Beach, CA, and a cousin, Lynn Apgar of Cream Ridge, N.J.

Joan was preceded in death by her son, Joshua M. Straub.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, at Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, with Pastor Ken Paulhamus officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery.
