ELGIN, S.C. — Joan Elizabeth Ann Barnhart Nace, 60, of Elgin, passed away early Friday morning, July 2, 2010, at her home. She was born July 11, 1949, in Sunbury, Pa., a daughter of the late H. Neal and Shirley (Wolfe) Barnhart. She was married to James R. Nace of Harrisburg, Pa., who survives. Joan was a 1967 graduate of Shikellamy High School, Empire School of Cosmetology, and Penn College, Harrisburg. Joan was a gifted cosmetologist, photographer, artist and interior decorator. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Andrea Nace Fisher, of Duncannon, and Stephanie Nace Smith, of Blythewood, S.C.; four grandsons, Chase and Chanse Fisher, and Denton and James Smith; two sisters, Jill Witmer, of 175 E. Diehl Road, Danville, and Jan Prystawski, of 16 Shady Tree Court, Williamsville, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Rodney Neal, Harry "Skip" Neal Jr., and Ron Barnhart. Joan's wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered at sea. There will be no viewing and the service will be private at a later date.
