Danville - The family of Jeremy Calvin Hoffman, 44, of Danville, Pennsylvania, is heartbroken to announce his passing on Aug. 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Throughout his life, Jeremy was known for his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends, his quick and witty sense of humor, his deep faith, his commitment to helping others, and his lifelong love affair with Philadelphia sports.

He was born in Sunbury, Pa., on Jan. 5, 1982, to Gale M. (Berger) Hoffman and Carey F. Hoffman. He grew up in Shamokin Dam and was a 2000 graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School. On July 28, 2007, he married Becky Gaugler Hoffman, whom he met at high school football game at the age of 17. They then moved to Philadelphia, where they spent 11 years building their life before returning home to Central PA.

Jeremy had a profound impact on the lives of the people around him, particularly the young people he was so committed to serving. He believed deeply in the mission of the YMCA and dedicated much of his life to helping children and families. He began his work with youth at the Sunbury YMCA before he and Becky moved to Philadelphia, where he spent his time as a beloved preschool teacher at the Christian Street YMCA. His commitment to young people and his love of God were also evident by service to his church, United Lutheran Church, Sunbury, where he served for many years as head of Christian education, a volunteer with Vacation Bible School, a church council member and as youth group leader.

When Jeremy became a dad to Noah and Lily, they quickly became the center of his heart and his life. He combined his love of fatherhood and sports and became involved with the Danville Area Little League as both a coach and board member, as well as with the Danville Area Community Center as a youth basketball coach. Whether as a teacher, coach, youth leader, or simply a trusted adult, Jeremy had a remarkable ability to make young people feel valued, supported, and believed in. The impact he made on those he taught and mentored will continue through the lives of the many people who were fortunate enough to know him.

Many people knew Jeremy for his unique interests, which included being a huge fan of the band KISS and of all things Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, an avid collector of bobblehead figurines, a lover of pop-tarts and a craft beer connoisseur. Over the years, he even dabbled in brewing his own beer, creating some pretty delicious home brews.

Jeremy was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 30 and faced his illness with the same determination, humor, and stubbornness that characterized so much of his life. He never used it as an excuse and refused to let it change how he lived his life. He drew inspiration from the Rocky movies, and decided early on to never give up. He was brave until the very end and is no longer captive to this awful disease. He wanted those around him to know that he never surrendered or stopped fighting, that it was just time to move on.

Jeremy will be remembered for his loyalty, his humor, his encyclopedic knowledge of sports, his impressive bobblehead collection, his willingness to help others and his faithfulness. In a short 44 years, Jeremy Hoffman left the world a better place.

Most of all, he will be deeply missed by the people who were lucky enough to call him husband, dad, son, brother, son-in-law, friend, coach, teacher, and teammate. He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky (Gaugler) Hoffman; his children, Noah Ryder Hoffman and Lily Reese Hoffman; his mother, Gale (Berger) Hoffman; his sister, Anita Williams (Steve) and niece and nephew, Brandon and Taylor Williams; his brother, Christopher Hoffman (Mandi); and his parents-in-law, Eugene and Tina Gaugler and brother-in-law Jason Gaugler. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, church family, and members of the communities he touched throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carey F. Hoffman; his grandparents, Romayne and Franklin Hoffman, Doris and Earl Berger, and Shirley Hetrick; his special friend, Patrick J. Kohl and his most beloved cat, Gabby.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at The United Lutheran Church of Sunbury, 167 Seven Points Road, Sunbury and again on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
