Jeanette (Kauffman) Wetzel Obituary

Jeanette (Kauffman) Wetzel, 81, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021, in her home, after fighting advanced Leukemia for more than two years.

Jeanette is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dean G. Wetzel. She was born August 1939 in Dornsife, the daughter of the late Earl and Pauline Kauffman.

Jeanette is survived by her siblings, Romaine Boyer, Glenn and Donald Kauffman.

Jeanette lived a life full of adventure alongside her best friend and husband, Dean. Interestingly, Jeanette was voted Poultry Queen of the Northumberland Area in high school. After graduating college from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in three years, Jeanette began her career as a music and elementary school teacher and later transitioned into running Dean's dental practice, managing the office, handling billing and insurance. Jeanette also spent time as a realtor where she shared her love of homes, interior decorating, and design. Jeanette designed the Wetzel home in Orefield, Pa., and their home in Rarity Bay, Tennessee.

Dean and Jeanette loved to travel. Having been all over the world, they have many cherished memories on cruises, in their motorhome traveling around the US and unforgettable boating vacations often with other couples. They were also active in the Rarity Bay community, in Tennessee, where she belonged to several clubs including the Women's Club, the Book Club, and the Garden Club. She was active in Tellico Village Community Church in Loudon, Tenn., and supported St. James Lutheran Church in Pitman, Pa.

Jeanette was a master of Pinochle and loved teaching and playing the game with her family and friends. She enjoyed scootering through the Hegins Valley with Dean and her childhood friends from the Valley. Jeanette will be remembered fondly for her contagious smile, her welcoming and loving nature and for her love of her family. She was always so proud to be by Dean's side and so proud of her children and grandchildren.

Jeanette is also survived by her sons, Gehred D. Wetzel (Jill), and Kelly R. Wetzel (Leigh Ann); as well as her grandchildren, Zachary, Grace, Austin, Jackson, and Maria.

Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at St. James Lutheran Church, Pitman, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in Jabob's Cemetery, Pitman.
