Lewisburg, PA - Jean Marie Ruhl, 84, of Lewisburg, died on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Jean was born on November 17, 1941, in Williamsport to the late George and Ethel (Dieffenderfer) Ruhl.

Jean graduated from Lewisburg High School as class salutatorian and was an editor on the yearbook committee. She later graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree from Penn State University where she was secretary of Phi Mu Sorority and advertising manager for "The Daily Collegian." Jean would go on to earn her master's degree from Glassboro State College.

She taught English, Journalism and Social Studies in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Jean was also Chief Financial Officer for Solar Master Film Corp, NJ.

She was a member of Mazeppa Union Church.

Jean served her communities in an impactful way. She was on the Board of Directors for the Buffalo Valley Telephone Company, Conestoga Enterprises Inc., D&E Communications Inc., Mainland Regional High School, NJ, and the Union County Historical Society.

Jean was editor of two books and several publications, advisor for Phi Mu Sorority at Bucknell University, a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, a chairwoman for the DAR Good Citizens Award Committee, a member of the First Presbyterian Church Building Committee, the Buffalo Township Zoning hearing board, the 1773 Buffalo Church Association and the Old Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association.

Surviving are her first cousins, Dwight Bower, Ruth Lewis, Eleanor Rawitz, Christine Scott, and Anne Spicer, and many other next-generation cousins.

Burial will be held privately in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.

A Memorial Service for Jean will be held at a future date at Old Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Cross Roads, Lewisburg.
