Janet M. Betzer, 89, a resident of Milton, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Spring Mills, Centre County, a daughter of the late Lowell A. and Grace E. (Hironimus) Hettinger. She was married to Robert G. Betzer who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2011. His death broke a marital union of more than 63 years.

Janet was a 1945 graduate of Milton High School.

She retired in 1975 from the Alumni Office of Bucknell University.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lewisburg where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Janet was a member and past president of the Lewisburg Council of Churches, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, the Rebekahs, where she received the Decoration of Chivalry Award and was recognized by the Union County Sunday School Association for 50 years of service.

Janet enjoyed knitting and camping and was a former 4-H leader.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Nancy E. Kessler, of San Jose, Calif., Galen R. and Josette Betzer, of Muncy, and Ginny L. and Lee Shreck, of Milton; nine grandchildren, Dione Wright, Christian Kessler, Adrienne Phillips, Danielle Mina, Andrea Poehler, Andreasha Gardner, Alissa Detman, Justin Betzer and Andrew Shreck; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce A. Wesner, of Milton.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 S. Fourth St., Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with her pastor, the Rev. Judi A. Herrold, and John Lee, pastor of visitation at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers. If desired, memorial contributions in Janet's memory may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 S. Fourth St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
