Jane "Janie" Wagner, 91, of McClure, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1934, in Lewistown, Janie was the daughter of William P. and Margaret B. (Bingaman) Wagner.
Janie married her perfect match, George K. "Beebop" Wagner on Nov. 21, 1952. They built a beautiful life during 72.5 years of marriage. Whether living in a 10-foot wide apartment in their chicken house, building Feather Heaven Farm together, or in the outback of Australia, Janie was never without her George.
Her proudest accomplishment was the family they built together. She was always available with a listening ear and sound advice, to make your favorite meal, or a gift that she picked up while shopping because, "it just reminded her of you."
Janie loved traveling all around the world and connecting with people. Her address book was unmatched because once you were Janie's friend, you were a friend for life. Janie and George built their home and farm in "Noodledoosie" near the Village of Wagner, but found a second home in Otter Creek, Maine. Janie looked forward to her "summers at her Acadia cottage," especially sharing her special place with many friends and family over the years and her neighbor, Kathleen Vollmer, who became like family.
She is survived by her husband; son, Michael S. Wagner and wife, Pamela, of Selinsgrove, daughter Lisa K. Wagner, of McClure; grandchildren, Andrew M. Wagner and wife, Brittany, of Williamsburg, Va., and Amanda (Wagner) Bryan, of Lewisburg; great-grandchildren, Audrey Wagner, Evan and Alex Bryan; and her best friend since childhood, Jeannine Brought. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Laurie (Doty) Wagner; parents and four sisters.
Janie was a Child of God and a lifelong member of the Bannerville Church of the Brethren. In her last days she told her family, "Imagine if nobody ever died. What a mess this world would be!" Please spread some kindness to make the world a little less messy in Janie's honor.
Janie was known for her beautiful flowers and love of pastels. The only color she didn't like was black. If attending her services, we ask you honor Janie's vibrance by wearing anything but black.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Bannerville Church of the Brethren, 7502 Stage Road, McClure, PA 17841, with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Jeffrey Snyder officiating.
Interment will take place at Bannerville Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janie's memory may be made to Bannerville Church of the Brethren.
Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Burnham.
