James T. "Jim" Goodwin, 79, of New Columbia, Pa., passed away on Feb. 1, 2025, surrounded by loving family. Born on July 27, 1945, in Milton, he was the son of George H. and Phyllis Welliver Goodwin. Jim married Kathleen Prowant on June 27, 1970, at United Methodist Church, of New Columbia, with Reverand Washburn officiating. Jim and Kathy were married 54 years.

Jim graduated from Milton Area High School in 1963, then joined the Army in 1964, and served until honorably discharged in 1967. Jim worked as a Linesman for Buffalo Valley Telephone Company for 38 years. Jim especially loved hunting and fishing with his family. He enjoyed coaching sons in both football and baseball. He enjoyed going to the movies and going out to eat. He enjoyed picnics at his home with both family and friends. He loved spending time with his loving wife and family, especially with his grandchildren. Jim loved attending their activities and he had the opportunity to teach them about the outdoors and to share his love of woodworking. Jim attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Freemasons.

Remaining to cherish James' memory are his spouse, Kathleen; children, George and spouse Amy Goodwin, Philip and spouse Amy Wehr Goodwin; grandchildren, Alyse, Cole, Luke, Miller, Iris, and Mia, and sisters Beverly and Deborah.

Preceding James in death were brothers, Ronald and Ralph Goodwin.

Friends and relatives will be received on from 12 to 1p.m. on Feb. 10 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 257 Third Street, New Columbia, Pa., where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Kerstetter officiating. Private burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church.
