James Allen Persing Jr.
James Allen Persing Jr., 87, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at the Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
He was born Dec. 26, 1932, in Union Bridge, Md., a son of the late Isabella (Barnhart) and James Allen Persing Sr. On Jan. 5, 1951, he married the former Esther M. Frehafer who survives. They celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Jim was a Marine Corps veteran and member of American Legion Post 44.
He retired from American Home Products, Milton, after 29 years.
He was a member of Truth and Restoration Church in Milton.
Jim was an avid sportsman, an expert archer, and a life member of the Shikellamy Archery Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, one son, David of Northumberland, and three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Schleig of Sunbury, Linda of Atlanta, Ga., and Teresa and Vince Meisinger of Montandon; eight grandchildren, Gina Musser, James Schleig Jr., Lisa Lenig, Marie Reichard, Joe Tamanini, Scott Klobe, Matthew Klobe and Nathan Persing; eight great-grandchildren, Dais, Tiffany, Maryssa, Kira, Stephani, Bethany, Bryce, Lillian and Liam; one great-great-grandson, Kole; and one brother, Richard, of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Matthew and James III; and two brothers, William and John.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Mandy Rhodes of Christ Wesleyan Church, officiating.

Interment with full military honors will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland,

Jim was a very good friend to me and taught me a lot about archery. We went to conference, regional and state shoots together. He will be missed

Jim was a special friend & a really great guy. Although I lost contact
with him several years ago we shot archery together & also worked
together setting up state archery events. Jim will be missed by many

Sorry for your loss. Jim was a good friend and a great archer. He really enjoyed archery and made it fun for others. I really enjoyed shooting with him. We both are glad we got to know Jim and enjoy the times we spent with him at the archery shoots. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing and the fact that he had alzheimer's. You don't know me, but I worked with Jim at Chef's. He was a wonderful man to work with, always a kind, delightful personality. So sorry for your loss.
