James R. Gates, 78, Beaver Springs
James R. Gates, 78, of Beaver Springs passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born January 19, 1947 in Lebanon, a son of the late Daniel C. and Kathryn (Fasnacht) Gates. On February 1, 1980 he married Julie A. Gilbert who survives.
James honorably served in the United States Army and the Army National Guards for six years.
He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada. His passions were music and trivia. His family remembers him best for his time as stage crew with Queen and others.
In addition to his wife Julie of 45 years, James is survived by two children, Jill Guffey and Tim Guffey; two grandchildren, Brylee Cox and Joel DePaolo; three great-grandchildren, Zayden Barton, Aubrey and Lenna Bruner; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Buster Brown.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Breanna DePaolo; and one sister, Darlene Schmoyer.
At James' request, no services will be held.
Arrangements are by the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.
