Brandon, Florida - James W Aikey died peacefully December 17, 2025 with his family and his beloved kitty, Sadie, at his side.
He was born in Lewisburg, PA in 1948 to Thelma and William Aikey, one of 5 children. He met Diane Boney, the love of his life, in high school and was married for 59 years.
James was a proud father of 2 daughters and was always active in coaching or cheering them on from the sidelines. Later, as a grandfather of three, he enjoyed watching their activities and being the after school shuttle with a stop for treats on the way home or teaching them and others how to fish from his dock. James worked in RV manufacturing and sales for a long time and then enjoyed being a handyman for family, friends, and other long term clients.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Guffey. He is survived by his wife, Diane, 2 daughters, Kelly Thorpe (James) of Evans, Georgia and Melinda Thomas (Harold) of Brandon, Florida, 3 siblings, 3 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. The family wishes to thank all who supported them through this journey and to the staff of Aldea Green for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Affinity Hospice of Florida https://affinityhealthflorida.com/donation/ or Dementia Society of America https://www.dementiasociety.org/memorials
