Port Trevorton - Howard A. Lauver, 89, formerly of Port Trevorton, entered into rest on Monday, Feb, 23, 2026, at Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg.

He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Chapman Township, son of the late J. William and S. Margaret (Newman) Lauver. On July 4, 1959, he married the former Nancy L. Ferry, who preceded him in death May 14, 1998.

Howard was a 1955 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.

He served in the United States Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1996.

Howard began his working career self-employed, as an electrician. He then worked as a systems analyst for Hall's Motor Transit, at Riverside Electric, and finally at Keller Marine before retiring.

He was a member of Port Trevorton Fire Company and DH&L Ambulance League, and served as a HAZMAT coordinator, president of the American Red Cross, and on the Union-Chapman Regional Authority Board. He was also a member of Hall's Zion Lutheran Church, Port Trevorton.

Howard is survived by four daughters, Michelle Knight, Anita (Curtis) Moats, Jennifer (Ed) Lauver Boonie, and Paulette Lauver; nine grandchildren, MacKenzie Knight, Anthony Moats, Rachel Moats, Olivia Moats, Benjamin Boonie, Melissa Erb, Ashley Haskins, Caitlin Boonie, and Sarah Michaels; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Gary Lauver, and one sister-in-law, Judy Michael.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert P. Knight.

Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27 and again from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa., 17853, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with Rev. Chad Butz officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in (Hall's) Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Port Trevorton.
