Winfield, PA - Homer H. Kratzer, 91, of Winfield, died Friday, July 24, 2026, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.


He was born on September 8, 1934, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Melrose and Stella (Maurer) Kratzer. On July 26, 1951, he married Mary Jane Kratzer, who survives. Together they celebrated nearly 75 years of marriage.


Homer worked as a meat cutter at the former Acme Markets, and later Giant.


He was a member of Winfield Baptist Church, where in earlier years was part of the Promise Keepers, and coached the church softball team.


Homer was an avid train collector. Most importantly, he enjoyed being with his family, including going hunting with his sons in earlier years.


Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Harry Kratzer and his wife, Terry, of Winfield, Ann Connolly and her husband, Ed, of Plainfield, CT, and Barry Kratzer and his wife, Deanna, of Shamokin; one sister, Anna Benfer; 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Hubert, Eugene, Donald and Carson; one sister, Myrtle Long; and one granddaughter, Heidi.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Winfield Baptist Church, 330 Pennsylvania 304, Winfield, with his son-in-law, Ed Connolly, officiating.

Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.


The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
