Harry William Hummel, 91, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, in Ellaville, Georgia.
Born Aug. 3, 1933, he was a son of the late Harry and Carrie (Mull) Hummel.
Harry dedicated much of his life to serving his country and community. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he continued his commitment to national service with a career at the FBI before eventually joining Chef Boyardee, where he worked until his retirement.
Harry was known for his love of auctions and antiques, often spending weekends in search of rare finds. A true sports enthusiast, he was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and the Penn State Nittany Lions, and he enjoyed the thrill of the game both on the field and at the casino.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Holt and her husband Jay of Ellaville, Ga; grandchildren, John Moyle and his wife Bahar of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Carrie Brantley and her husband Jim of Ellaville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Jacob Moyle of Ellaville, Ga. and Kayla Moyle of Americus, Ga.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Haley. Harry also leaves behind his sister, Mary Lou Brooks of Florida, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Hummel; his brother, George Hummel; and sisters, Grace T. Young, Dorothy M. Wagner, and Isabella O. Erlston, and infant sister, Edna Hummel.
Harry's life was marked by his unwavering integrity, dedication, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by a graveside service with military honors in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
