Harold J. Witmer Obituary

Harold J. "Sonny" Witmer, 75, of 2661 Hoppestown Road, Williamsport passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, with his family by his side.

He was born Dec. 17, 1942 in Pillow and was a son of Ray and Cora Peifer Witmer. On Aug. 11, 1973, he married the former Edna J. Woodruff who survives.


Harold was a 1961 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School and a 1973 graduate of Elizabethtown University with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

He was self-employed as a CPA.

Haold was a member of St. Paul's Church, Overton.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Sheldon (Marcie) Witmer of Elverson, Scott (Laurie) Witmer of Danville, and Stacy (Amanda) Witmer of Montoursville; two brothers, Irvin Witmer of Berrysburg and Darwin (Donna) Witmer of Hickory Corners; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Shade.


Family and close friends are invited to celebrate the life of Harold at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church Social Hall, 59 High Road, Danville. This is a time of sharing memories and photos in remembering Harold. A lunch will be provided.

Funeral services and burial in St. John's Cemetery, Danville will be private and at the convenience of the family.
