Guy E. Mitterling
Guy E. Mitterling, 94, of Selinsgrove, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Port Trevorton, a son of the late Anson and Ottilla (Herrold) Mitterling.

In 1951, he married the former Ruth Maurer who preceded him in death in 1974. Two sons and a daughter were born from this union, Craig (Betsy), Brent who preceded him in death (Karen), and Ann (Ed Auman).
Guy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jane (Rapp) Hupp. This union added three surviving stepdaughters to the family, Robin (Tim Showers), Tammy Houser and Karen Orwan (Walt Zera). Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Jared, Jason, Jessica, Ashley (Clark) and Kaci Mitterling, Timothy Jr., Brock, and Tabbitha Showers, Many (Houser) School and Dianna (Holley) McGovern, Kassianna, David Jr. and Nicholas Orwan. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Mitterling in 2016; 21 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Caleb, Savannah, Bowman, Winnie and Maela Mitterling, Tyler, Cody, Isaiah, Gabriella, Anthony and Leticia Showers, Camdon Myers, Taylynn and Tatum Ewing, Katelyn and Jack School, Harper and Lydia McGovern, and Avori and Wesley Orwan.

He was preceded in death by all his siblings, Russell, Elwood, Ruth Bottiger and Dorothy Way.

Guy finished the eighth grade at Scholl's Elementary School in Union Township, Snyder County.
He worked on the family farm and later purchased it. He was an insurance salesman for 15 years and a Snyder County Commissioner for 16 years.
He was a lifelong active member of Witmer's United Methodist Church, Port Trevorton, were he served as Sunday school superintendent, Lay Leader, Pastor-Parish committee chairman, administrative council chairman, adult Sunday school teacher, and treasurer for the current Witmer's church building committee. He was a member of many civic organizations during his lifetime. He now has passed into eternal life where he has joined all the saints who went before him. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife and family.
Guy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He also spent hours building ice huts so he could take his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and teach them how to ice fish.

A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Witmer's United Methodist Church, 350 Witmer Road, Port Trevorton, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Ruth Liples officiating.
Burial will be in Witmer's First (West) Cemetery.
