Grant L. "W.T." Yetter Obituary

BEAVERTOWN - Grant L. "General" "W.T." Yetter, 63, of Beavertown, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born on July 5, 1947, in Snyder County, a son of the late Norman S. Sr. and Nora Kathryn (Portzline) Yetter. On Aug. 31, 1965, he was married to the former Diana L. Bennage, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 45 years. Grant began his employment with the Beavertown Silk Mill. He then started his truck driving career which lasted 32 years. He started working for the former Poloran Homes, Middleburg, followed by D&R Transportation "Garrisons", ATI of Lincoln, Neb., National Limestone Quarry, NAPA Transportation. He then was self employed in hauling potatoes. Grant was a former social member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5640, Middleburg. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. In addition to his wife he is survived by his five children and their spouses, Charlene and Wayne Catherman, of Kissimmee, Grant L. Yetter Jr., of Beavertown, Russell and LaDonna Yetter, of Middleburg, Kimberly and Justin Lewis, of Selinsgrove, and Kathryn and Jerry Lewis Jr., of Beavertown; nine grandchildren, Wayne Catherman, Taren Wagner, Amy Strait, Jeffrey Yetter, Diana Yetter, Austin Lewis, Kasey Lewis, Jerry Lewis III, Janel Lewis; a step-grandson, Eric Stahl; four brothers, Norman Jr. and Betty Yetter, of Middleburg, John and Miriam Yetter, of McClure, Dale Yetter, of Reedsville, Roger and Connie Yetter, of McClure; five sisters, Eleanor and Amos Strawser and Nora Poole, all of Richfield, Edith and Harvey Brittain, of Beavertown, Ruth and Reno Gregory, of Richfield, and Mary Yetter and her companion Jim Fulmer, of Clearfield; nieces and nephews. Grant was preceded by a daughter in infancy. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Hassinger's White Church, Route 522, Middleburg with Pastor Daryl M. Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Please give kind consideration of memorial gifts to the family to assist them during this time. The George P.
