Grace Eleanor Updegrove, 93, formerly of Herndon and a resident at the Manor at Susquehanna Village, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Manor.

Grace was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Herndon, a daughter of the late Pearl (Fegley) Bordner and William Bordner. She was married to Ray Updegrove who preceded her in death in 2005.

She was a 1940 graduate of Herndon High School.

Grace worked at Nightkraft until 1944 and then worked one year as a teacher's aide at the Line Mountain High School. She had also been employed with CBS and MSM Shoe Company until her retirement in 1987.

She was a member of Zion Chuch of Herndon, a member of Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herndon Fire Company.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Alan Hoffman, of Mount Holly and Connie and Mark Howerter, of Herndon; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Judy Updegrove, of Dornsife; one sister, June Harman, of Sunbury; one brother, William Bordner, of Northumberland; and one sister-in-law, Joan Bordner, of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Cheryl Seidel and her husband Barry, Karen Snyder and her husband Jim, Kimberly Hoffman, Brian Updegrove and his wife Jennifer and Kevin Updegrove. six great-grandchildren, Rachel and McCartney Seidel, Kennedy and Dakotah Snyder, and Alexandra and Samantha Updegrove; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Bordner and Hazel Bucher; one brother, Merlin Bordner; and an infant granddaughter, Sherry Howerter.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Zion Church, Route 147, Herndon, followed by a memorial service at 11 with the Rev. Jay Bohn officiating.

A private interment will be held in Herndon Cemetery.
