Lewisburg - George Albert Garancosky, Jr., age 76, of Lewisburg, Pa., passed from this life into life eternal with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Feb. 6, 1949 in Shamokin, Pa.

George was a 1967 graduate of Shamokin Area High School and Liberty University in 1978. He ministered as a Senior Pastor at Faith Baptist Church, Beaver Springs, Pa., First Baptist Church, Philipsburg, Pa., and at Abundant Life Baptist Church, Washington, Pa. He retired after 43 years from Pastoral ministry in 2021. After retirement from the ministry, he worked as a driver for Blaise Alexander, Lewisburg, PA.

George was an avid gun collector and enjoyed target shooting. He also enjoyed spending his time with computer assembly.

His passion in life was to share Christ with as many people as possible. He was a Pastor that became part of his congregants' lives and was there for their many needs.

On June 6, 1970, he married Holly Van Riper, who survives. They had just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Also surviving is one son, David Garancosky, N.Y., and two daughters, Julia (Michael) Umstead, Lewisburg, Pa. and Sarah (Jason) Brown, Canton, Ga. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Keidis Garancosky, Utah, Julian Garancosky, Idaho, Emily Fleck, Acworth, Ga., Christian Brown, Canton, Ga., and Jessica Umstead, Lewisburg, Pa.

George has three surviving siblings, John Garancosky, California, Pa, Kevin Garancosky, Harrisburg, Pa, and AnnMarie Zelinsky, Elysburg Pa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcomed to a Celebration of Life at Sunbury Bible Church, 135 Spruce Hollow Road, Northumberland, Pa. on Sunday, June 29th at 3 pm.

Pastor Preston Atkinson will be officiating along with Tom Lee, a personal friend of George.
