George D. "Davey Lee" Longacre Obituary
WINFIELD - George D. "Davey Lee" Longacre, 69, of Scotts Drive, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born April 17, 1942, in Northumberland, a son of the late George A. and Marian I. (Reitz) Longacre. George was a member of the Selinsgrove High School Class of 1962. He was employed for more than 26 years with Agway Inc. Feed Mill & Grain, Winfield, until disability forced his retirement. He was member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, where he was active in the Happy Hearts and Christian Classics. He also was a member of TOPS, of Shamokin Dam. George was a private person and enjoyed listening to music and watching television. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne A. and Sally A. Longacre, of Winfield; and two half sisters, Goldie Buch, of Sunbury, and Eleanor Strouse and husband Gene, of Northumberland. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Richard Arnold, and two nephews, Donald Longacre and Jimmy Strouse. Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Community United Methodist Church, Park and Fisher roads, Selinsgrove, where the funeral will begin at 11 with the Rev. Kathleen E. Kind officiating. Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in George's memory may be made to his church, Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Road, Selinsgrove, PA 17870. Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
