Gene M. Snyder Obituary

Gene M. Snyder, 84, of 93 Schoolhouse Road, Bloomsburg (Buckhorn), died at 2:25 a. m. Tuesday, Sept. 24. 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for 12 days.

He was born April 5, 1935, in Mazeppa, Buffalo Township, Union County, a son of the late Clarence and Grace (Ross) Snyder. He resided in Buckhorn since 1960.


Gene proudly served his country by serving in the Army during the Korean War.

He was employed by American Home Foods Inc., Milton for 40 years, retiring in April, 1997

He was an active member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He also belonged to the Buckhorn Community Fire Company.

Gene loved horses and in his younger years was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.


Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth E. Bower, with whom he observed his 59th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2019; one son, Scott B. Appleman, and his wife Arla of Hughesville; two daughters, Patricia A. Snyder and Lisa Mattive and husband James, all of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Max Ward, and one brother, Merle Snyder, all of Lewisburg.


Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Dean W. Kriner Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Buckhorn United Methodist Church, 94 Schoolhouse Road, Bloomsburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with his pastor, Audrey M. Brosious and Pastor Kenny Stoggins, a grandson-in-law and pastor of the Community Baptist Church, Lenoir City, Tenn., officiating.

Interment will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery.
