G. Darleen "Dee" Colatch-McDonald, 92, of Connellsville, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024.
She was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Floyd and Hattie Rhae (Helms) Kessler. She spent the greater part of her life in Connellsville, the hometown she loved.
For a time, she operated an antique shop out of her home, and loved flower gardening, roller skating, collecting Americana and American Brilliant cut glass.
When her children were growing up, she was known for her wonderful Sunday dinners and holiday meals. She was a member of Central Fellowship Church and the former Central Methodist Church.
Dee is survived by two daughters, Michaelene (Robert) Shreck of White and Robin (Eric) Niderstros of Donegal Township; a son, Rev. Dr. John Patrick (Connie) Colatch of Milton; four grandchildren, Deanne Jubec (Dave) of Mount Pleasant, Ben Shreck of Masontown, Carly Hill (Jordan) of Leeds, England and Zach Colatch (Katie) of Northfield, Vermont, and six great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Crawford; brother, James E. (Pete) Kessler and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Paul G. Fink Funeral Home, Inc., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, PA 15425.
In accordance with Dee's wishes, no viewing will be held and interment will be private.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Connellsville Area Community Ministries, 110 W. Crawford Ave., Connellsville, PA 15425.
