Florence I. Goodling
Florence I. Goodling, 93, of Grayson View Court, Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully to her eternal home in the early morning of Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at UPMC, Sunbury Hospital.

Florence was born May 27, 1926, in rural Millerstown, Susquehanna Township, Juniata County, a daughter of the late William and Emma (Potter) Light.

On a snowy Christmas Day in 1945, Florence and her sweetheart, Wayne L. Goodling, drove to Silver Spring, Maryland where they were married. Together they shared more than 67 happy years of marriage, most of them on their farm in rural Mount Pleasant Mills. In 2006, they moved to Selinsgrove where they resided until his death on Aug. 15, 2013.

Florence was a member of Daniels/St. Thomas United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills, where she served as communion steward for more than 50 years. In her later years, she attended the Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene.

She was a graduate of Liverpool High School. Florence was a seamstress, having worked in several local garment factories before retiring from Miss Siren/Carmen Manufacturing in Selinsgrove.

Florence enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends to Hawaii, Oberammergau to witness the Passion play, Austria, Germany, and destinations within the United States. She was an amazing cook and baked delicious pies, especially lemon sponge, enjoyed gardening, and canning fruits and vegetables and always had a meticulous home. She dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her great-granddaughters.

Florence is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Doug Herrold; two grandsons and their wives, Michael and Reva Herrold and David and Becky Herrold, all of Selinsgrove; four great-granddaughters, Samantha Herrold and her boyfriend, Andrew Wilson, and Devin Herrold, of Selinsgrove, Evonne and her husband Michael Workman of Lititz, and Brianna and her husband Tobias Reich of Winfield.

In addition to her husband, Florence was preceded in death by one grandson, Brent Matthew; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ethel Horning and Blanche and Ira Scholl. She was the last of her immediate family.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene, 543 Sassafras St., followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Melton, Pastor Emeritus, officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove.

For those who desire, memorial gifts in Florence's memory may be made to the Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene, 543 Sassafras St., Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
