Selinsgrove - Edwin (Butch) W. Ehrsam, 76, departed our presence unexpectedly on July 21, 2026, at Williamsport Hospital. He was born on the Summer Solstice, June 21, 1950, the third son of William A. Ehrsam Sr. and Emma Louise (nee Hoffman) Ehrsam.

Ed was drafted right out of high school and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the Vietnam War. He became permanently disabled in 1978. He had worked as a milkman with his dad, as a dairy farmer, building X-ray machines, in the food industry, and many other occupations. With the help of his family he became determined that nothing was going to stop him from raising his children, celebrating life, and serving the area the best he could. Together they built and operated a service business in their home for 21 years, Telephone Answering Plus, answering hotlines, emergency calls, and monitoring alarms.

He encouraged his sons to follow their dreams, and helped them establish Bears Picnic Presents, offering family-oriented music festivals to build, inspire, and bring healing and hope to the greater community. Without any discussions or thoughts about how it would affect our family, he encouraged his wife to answer God's call to enter ministry and supported her on the journey. Through thick and thin he was always there to uplift everyone. He lived, laughed, and loved in this life and he will throughout eternity.

Ed loved God, his country, his family, Thanksgiving and Christmas, family gatherings, history, music, camping, fishing, football, helping and encouraging others, always reflecting the brighter side, even in the midst of chaos. He is and will always be greatly missed, but we are grateful that he experiences no more pain or suffering and has joined the company of heaven in the presence of Almighty God to embark on a new journey.

Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pastor Kathleen (nee Praul) Ehrsam, united in marriage on the first celebration of Earth Day; his son, Benjamin and wife Kimberly; three grandchildren, Jayda, Aiden, and Noah; brother, Robert E. Ehrsam Sr; sisters Emma Ferry, Mary Hood, BIL: George H Praul (Maureen), Theodore Praul, SIL: Gail Brandon (Bud), Melanie (Jon) Magnuson, MIL: Arlene Baily, Dena Gentner, brother Chris Praul (Casey), sister Jennifer (Joe) Winterscheidt, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family pet, Kody.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Emma Louise (nee Hoffman) Ehrsam; his brother William A. Jr; his son, Christopher, FIL: George A. Praul, BIL: Keith Praul and William Ferry, SIL: Joanne Praul and Harriet Ehrsam.

Ed's spiritual journey was Presbyterian in nature. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be announced in the near future at the discretion of his family.
