Edith Ressler Obituary

Milton, Pennsylvania - Edith Ressler, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on April 3, 2026, with friends by her side. Edith celebrated her 90th birthday on March 25. She felt truly blessed and humbled by the many cards and visits she received.

Edith, the daughter of Charles and Mazie Ressler, was born in Hegins, Pa. She grew up in Baltimore, Md. After graduating high school, where she played basketball and softball, Edith attended Philadelphia College of Bible, earning a BS in Bible/Christian Education. She then attended Penn State University earning a BS in Secondary Education/German.

In the summer of 1966, she completed graduate studies in German at Middleburg College in Middlebury, Vt. In 1968, she earned a MA degree in German from the University of Washington. She furthered her love for German by attending the Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany, during the summer of 1971. Edith often said she was amazed how God led her to college, considering she never gave college a thought and was just happy to be out of high school.

Edith pursued her love for German and children by teaching German at Milton High School from 1965-1986. She held various office positions after leaving teaching and retired in 2005 from Weis Markets Inc.

Edith shared her love for Jesus by serving in various churches as Sunday School teacher, deacon, church treasurer, missions committee, prayer ministry and Awana. She had a passion for missions chaperoning for various youth work camps and volunteering at Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child processing centers for many years. She went on a medical mission trip to Guatemala at the age of 80. Edith also volunteered locally at the Pregnancy Care Center, Himmelreich Library, Evangelical Hospital and Hospice.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, and one niece Michelle White. She is survived by one sister, Ruth White, nephews Charles (Stacy)White,

Jeffery (Linda) White, niece Renee Jamerson, special cousins Ruth Cook, Mary Bixler and Stuart Bossler, and her beloved dog Max.

A celebration of life service will be held April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Milton, 316 Golf Course Road.

In lieu of flowers, Edith requested that memorial contributions be made to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.
