Northumberland, Pennsylvania - Donald W. "Chip" Carter, of Northumberland, was born Aug. 19, 1934, and was raised by his grandmother, Mabel Carter, of Mifflinburg.
He graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He is survived by his wife, Sadie R. Carter, whom he married in 1975.
Chip worked at Philco/Ford and Zenith in Watsontown as a purchasing agent for many years. He then worked at Brodart Industries in Williamsport and later at Cabinet Industries in Danville. He also worked as the credit manager for Bilger Fuels in Middleburg.
He was an avid fisher, hunter and golfer with his high school buddies. He could be found drinking coffee every morning at local restaurants and always had a corny joke on hand for anyone who would listen.
He leaves behind his stepdaughter, Sue Roznowski Nicol, granddaughter, Maddie Nicol, of Chestnut Hill, Pa. and stepson Rob Roznowski, of East Lansing, Mich. Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
