Dolores Johnston Obituary

Dolores (Michelini) Johnston, 97, of Danville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024.

Born in New York City on May 14, 1927, Dolores was a graduate of Hunter College in Manhattan, studying music and voice and training as a professional singer. Dolores furthered her studies in Paris and Germany where she lived for two years studying French Art Song and performing. She then toured with the U.S.O. When back in the U.S., she performed at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey, where she met her husband, Robert "Bob" Johnston, in 1953. She performed in musicals in New York and New England. Her next engagement led to marriage in 1956... starting her married life that lasted over 64 years.

Dolores and Bob moved to Danville in 1959 and raised five sons. As a mother, grandmother, and friend, Dolores was known as a beautiful, selfless, and gracious lady, with a deep Catholic faith.

Dolores joined Weight Watchers as a member in 1967 and then worked for Weight Watchers for nearly 46 years, retiring near her 86th birthday. Many Weight Watchers can fondly remember her enthusiastically leading Danville/Riverside, Lewisburg, and Sunbury/Selinsgrove meetings for decades.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Elysburg at noon Wednesday, Dec. 4.
