Dianne L. Smeltz, age 72, entered into the arms of Jesus on February 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Dalmatia. She was born on March 20, 1946

to Polly and the late Harold Martz in Lykens. She married Laverne Smeltz on January 25, 1964.

Dianne graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School and Empire Beauty School. For over 40 years, Dianne operated her own beauty shop and worked as a Mary Kay beauty consultant. Dianne was a member of St. Paul's UCC where she loved sharing God's word and working with children. She served as a Sunday School teacher and a VBS coordinator. Since retirement, Dianne was a member of the Herndon Senior Citizen Center, where she treasured the friendships and laughter that was shared.

Dianne had an unquenchable love for nature and God's creations and cherished rural living. She could often be found outside among the flowers, birds, and fish pond in her yard. Over the years, she found joy caring for outside and inside cats.

Dianne was passionate about her family. She cherished making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed holiday gatherings, bingo, card games, picnics, going to the cabin and playing quoits. These moments brought her much joy and she held them dear over the years.

Her sparkle will be greatly missed by her husband, Laverne Smeltz, with whom she was married to for 55 years. Dianne is survived by her two children and their spouses: Wanda and Don Wilkinson, Wendy and Mike Wacker. Her mother; Polly Martz. Five grandchildren: Jeremy and Angela Lesher, Justine and Ricky Cooper, Matthew Wilkinson, Alex and Austin Wacker. Two great-grandchildren: Sarah and Justin Lesher. A brother and sister-in-law: Don and Cindy Martz. A sister and brother-in-law: Dana and Mike Foulds as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held at St. Paul's UCC Church in Herndon, PA on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM. There will be no visitation prior to the service and everyone will be invited to a time of fellowship and refreshment immediately following the celebration of life service in the church social hall. A private burial service will be held at the discretion of the family with the arrangements made through the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Dianne's memory to St. Paul's UCC Church, 1473 Urban Road, Herndon, PA 17830.
