Shamokin Dam - Dennis W. Krouse, 72, of Shamokin Dam, passed away suddenly on Monday, Aug. 31, at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1954, in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Raymond Krouse and Anna (Smith) Krouse Kreamer.

Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Middleburg High School. On March 4, 1972, he married the former Patsy I. Hollenbach, who survives. He had been employed for 34 years at Pennsylvania House in Lewisburg until its closing and following that had been employed at Wood-Mode, Lowes and retired from Weis Markets.

He was a member of Shamokin Dam Fire Company and the Powderhorn Lodge in Potter County. He played slowpitch softball for many years, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking and was a fan of the Phillies and Eagles.

Dennis will be remembered as being very supportive of his family, and especially his nieces and nephews.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years are two daughters, Carla (Kevin) Kerstetter and Desiree (Steven) Ross; one son, Toby (Heather) Krouse; four grandchildren, Zachary (Kaylyn) Kerstetter, Luke (Samantha) Kerstetter, Mia (Jordan) Havasi and Kaelley Krouse; seven great-grandchildren, Brantley, McKynlee, Hayden, Acelynn, Abigail, Jason and Lydia; two sisters, Bonnie (Richard) Kratzer and Jane (Dave) Mitch; two brothers, Timothy and John Krouse, as well as his in-laws and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Krouse.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill Street, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Steve Smith officiating.
