Middleburg, PA - Art Teacher & Life Long Educator

Delores Boonie of Middleburg, PA died on Wednesday 24 September 2025 at the age of 89.

She was born on the 10th of July 1936 and was a graduate of Kutztown University. She started her teaching career at Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, PA where she met her late husband John Boonie. She served her community as the art teacher for the Milton Middle School, with a career totaling 36 years. She shared her passion for art through travel, by organizing multiple educational trips to Europe with her students. She continued her passion for travel after retirement, with multiple trips across Europe, Central America, Asia and the United States. She was also known for her kindness and generosity with injured wildlife, nursing and caring for them until they recovered and could be released back into the wild. Her indomitable spirit inspired all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne McLaury of Hawaii and her son, LTC(R) Daniel Boonie of North Carolina along with her grandchildren, Scott and James Peterson and Danielle Boonie.
