Darlis J. Ackley, 84, of Sunbury, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.


Darlis was born April 10, 1939, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late William H. and Helen C. (Zettlemoyer) Kessler.


She was a member of the former Albright United Methodist Church, Sunbury.


Mrs. Ackley had a great love for life which included taking drives, going for ice cream, particularly at the Purple Cow, the music of Elvis, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading and trips to Walmart


She was a great storyteller and loved having coffee. Her greatest joy came from visiting and spending time with her family.


Darlis is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ernest R. and Jessica A. Ackley, and Jeffery A. Ackley, all of Sunbury, James A. and Lynette Ackley of Milton; one daughter, Crystal A. Ackley and companion Louis Paradis of Northumberland; her 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.


She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jodi Moyer; and one son, William Ackley and husband William Henry Ackley.


A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, where funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Marian Anderson officiating.


Burial will be in the Sunbury Cemetery, Spruce Street, Sunbury.
