McAlisterville, Pennsylvania - Darlene M. Alderfer, 84, of McAlisterville, passed away at 6:42 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at Richfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Feb. 18, 1940, in Telford, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Mamie (Metz) Beidler. On Jan. 17, 1959, she married her late husband, Clyde K. Alderfer, with whom she was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage before his passing on May 12, 2016.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth L. Alderfer and his wife Lori, J. Bryan Alderfer and his wife Lisa, all of McAlisterville, John S. Alderfer and his wife Dawn of Richfield, Randall G. Alderfer and his wife Allyson of Juneau, Alaska, Dale E. Alderfer and his wife Mary of Newton, Kansas, Laurel B. Alderfer Dean and her husband David of Elkton, Virginia, and Krista J. Roorbach and her husband Doug of Indianapolis, Indiana; 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Hunsberger and her husband James of Mount Pleasant Mills; and many generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Ronald C. Alderfer; and five brothers, Murray, Donald, Willard, David, and Rodney Beidler.
Mrs. Alderfer was a 1958 graduate of Christopher Dock High School, Lansdale and was a proud homemaker.
Darlene attended Richfield Life Ministries Church where she taught Cubbies at Awana and was a former Sunday School teacher, and also was a resident of North Ridge Center Personal Care in McAlisterville for over 8 years.
She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, baking, cooking, and scrap booking; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the Richfield Life Ministries Church, 167 Church St., Richfield, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Benner officiating.
Interment will follow in the Boyer Mennonite Church Cemetery, Middleburg.
