Darla Jean (Long) Smith, 64, of Dornsife, passed away April 14, 2021, at her family's home in Greenbrier.

Darla was born Aug. 30, 1956, in Kittanning, and was raised in the Vandergrift area as the youngest child and only daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Betty Long.

Darla happily spent the last 16 years of her life helping care for her grandchildren as well as being the neighborhood nanny when her friends needed her services.

Fondly called Mam by all, her family often joked that half of the school bus was filled when the bus stopped to pick up the kids that Darla sent off to school.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and she also enjoyed crocheting, baking, and gardening.

Darla is survived by her three daughters, April and Ty Rothermel of Dornsife, Heather and Charles Seroka of Pottsville, and Kerry and John McGuire of Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Also surviving are her step-mother, Frances Long of Vandergrift; brothers, Ken Long of Kittanning, and Herb Long of Kittanning; step-brothers, Clark Eckman of North Carolina, and Andy Eckman of Jersey Shore; granddaughters, Courtney Woodward, Taylor Rothermel and Alivia McGuire; and grandsons, William Foulds Jr., Brock Rothermel, Blake Rothermel, and Patrick McGuire.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean (Smith) Long; her father, Robert Dale Long; her brother, Charles Robert Long; and grandson, Ryan Foulds.

Friends will be received from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 26, at the Augustaville Wesleyan Church, Paxinos, where memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Greg Clendaniel officiating.

Interment will be held in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa., at a date convenient to the family. Flowers will be provided by Flowers and Friends of Pitman, Pa.
