Daniel R. Barnhart Jr. Obituary

Herndon - Daniel R. Barnhart Jr., 39, of Herndon, passed away on Jan. 29, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Sheridan (Erdman) Barnhart, with whom he shared more than 16 years of marriage and 18 years together. Born on April 9, 1986 in Lawton, Okla., he was the son of Sandra M. (Rine) Groce and Daniel R. Barnhart Sr.

Daniel was a 2004 graduate of Shikellamy High School. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he joined Martz Game Farm in 2016 as a hunting guide, working alongside his two beloved dogs, Cain and Remi. A favorite among clients, Daniel was often personally requested for his skill, warmth, and dedication. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and trapping, but his greatest passion was fishing — he never went anywhere without a fishing rod, always prepared in case he could slip in a few casts. An avid bass fisherman, Daniel and his mother proudly participated in the Lunker League each summer, and he also competed in other bass fishing tournaments.

Daniel was also a talented cook who loved grilling and smoking food for family and friends. He had a wide circle of friends who knew they could always count on him. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his family, and his most treasured role was being a proud cheer dad to his daughters, Hailee and Taylor.

Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheridan; his daughters, Hailee and Taylor Barnhart; his mother and stepfather, Sandra Groce and Scott; his father and stepmother, Daniel Barnhart Sr. and Sherri; his maternal grandmother, Linda Yerger; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glenn and Connie Erdman. He is also survived by his siblings, Zachary Groce, Jessica Wiest, and Michael Barnhart; his brother-in-law, Travis Erdman, and Travis's wife, Tori; as well as many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Rine Sr.; his paternal grandparents, John and Irene Barnhart; and a brother-in-law, Tyler Erdman.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Higher Hope Church, 1000 Race St., Sunbury, Pa., 17801, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Mark Gittens will officiate. After the service, a gathering for close friends and family will be held at the Masonic Lodge on Market Street in Sunbury at 1 p.m.
