Clair E. Bowersox, 85, of Beavertown, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 31, 1938, in Center Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Luther and Nora (Kessler) Bowersox. On Dec. 31, 1960, he married the former Barbara J. Mitchell who survives.

Clair was a 1958 graduate of the Middleburg Joint High School and following graduation entered the U.S. Air Force serving from 1958 to 1962.

He was employed with Faylor Middlecreek Construction, later Eastern Industries, from May 16, 1966 to Aug. 3, 2007.

Clair was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Troxelville where he served on the council, Sunday School secretary, and sexton.

Clair served 28 years with the Beaver Springs Ambulance and Fire Company as a dedicated EMT and driver. In his spare time he deeply enjoyed attending all of his daughter and granddaughters music, sporting and dance events.

Surviving in addition to his wife of almost 64 years are a daughter, Michelle Bixler of Troxelville; two granddaughters, Lexi Bixler and Brianna Bixler-Wersinger and her husband Danny; great-grandchildren, Jonah, Ellis and Leia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Elgarda Mitchell; and Ron Bixler, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty, Helen, and Annabelle; a niece, Monica Baker; and brothers, Richard, Charles, Carl, and Donald.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church of Troxelville, followed by a memorial service with the Rev. Matthew Schuster officiating.

The Middlewest Veterans Honor Guard will render honors following the service.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church of Troxelville.

The family is especially thankful for all of Clair's care he received at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital.
