Charles H. Manhart Obituary

Charles Henry Manhart, 88, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at Highland View Health Care, Brockway.


He was born July 24, 1927, in Lavelle, a son of the late Alfred and Ida (Zimmerman) Manhart. He was married to the former Joyce K. Strohecker who preceded him in death.


Charles joined the Army in 1945, serving in World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946 and graduated from Trevorton High School in 1948. He spent his career working for Bell Telephone Company as a manager, retiring in 1983.


He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Craig A. and Lynda Manhart; one daughter and son-in-law, Melonie K. and William Ettinger; three granddaughters, Emily Manhart, Mary Manhart-Shaffer, and Rachel Stanley; one great-granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.


In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Jones; nephew, Alfred Dunston; and grandson, Chuck Manhart.


A graveside service will be held at the family's convenience.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA.
