Charles Francis "Norton" Divel Jr., 80, of Hughesville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, in the UPMC Susquehanna at Williamsport.

Born Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1940, in Mahoning Township, Montour County, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Marian A. (Elwell) Divel Sr. He was the husband of Julie A. (Klobe) Divel with whom he celebrated a 19th wedding anniversary on July 20, 2020.

He retired from the Montgomery Area School District where he was employed as a custodian.

Norton was a social member of Watsontown V.F.W. Post 1665. He enjoyed hunting, camping and all animals, especially his pets. He was an avid watcher of all football.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Pamela and husband Dean Fulger of McElhatten, Debbie and husband James King of South Williamsport, Teresa and husband Rocky Stugart of Hughesville, Charles and wife Mary Divel III of Linden, Mark and wife Geraldine Divel of Cogan Station, Shawn Divel of South Williamsport, Jennifer Klobe and fiance Matt Reinhart of Lewisburg. He is also survived by his twin brother, John and wife Shirley Divel of Gillett; his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Woolsey of Pottsgrove; 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, a brother in infancy, Sister Joseph Ellen Divel, Marian Jessmore and Richard Divel.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Michael Hill, pastor of the Elimsport United Methodist Church, officiating.
