Carol Schwalm
Carol Louise May Schwalm, formerly of rural Herndon, most recently of Myerstown, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019. She was a resident of Stone Ridge Retirement, Myerstown, since March 2014.
She was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Isaac and Ethel M. (Sharpe) May.

Carol attended the Academy in Shamokin.
She retired from Myerstown Shirt Factory in 1988.
She was a member of Myerstown United Church of Christ.
A homebody at heart, she loved nothing more than taking care of her family, gardening, sewing, canning, baking pies, especially her homemade mincemeat pies at Christmas. She was a devoted wife and mother and her meaning and purpose in life was her family. Because she enjoyed distributing candy to children, she was know as the candy lady at the local diner and church.

Carol married William Wellington Schwalm on May 30, 1942. The union was blessed with four children who survive her, William C. Schwalm, Stephen I. Schwalm (wife Donna), Thomas J. Schwalm and Sharon L. Schwalm Frank (husband Ed). She is survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William May, Harry May, Richard May; one sister, Jeanne M. Sanders; and daughter-in-law, G. Debra Schwalm.

A service of Thanksgiving for the Grace of God in her Life will be held on at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, with Carol's nephew, the Rev. Carvel May officiating, at Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church, Erdman, Pennsylvania.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church Cemetery, Erdman, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carol's memory may be made to St. Michaels Lutheran Church, 48 Main St., Klingerstown, PA 17941.

The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown has charge of the arrangements.

I am so very sorry for your loss of Nana. She was quite a remarkable woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has left a true legacy.
May her memory be for a blessing.
