Watsontown, Pennsylvania - Clarence Herbert "Herb" Zeager, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his beloved home, Shady Hill Farm.
Born on August 8, 1942, in Conoy Township, Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Clarence B. and Ethel M. (Kreider) Zeager.
Herb was a graduate of Warrior Run High School, and later in life served his community as a member of the Warrior Run School Board and the Danville State Hospital Board. He was an active member of the PA Farm Bureau, California Grange, and the Chillisquaque-Limestone Watershed Association. He worshipped as a member of Beaver Run Mennonite Church and also attended White Hall Baptist Church.
Farming was one of Herb's greatest passions. In 1982 Herb was named a Pennsylvania Master Farmer. He took pride in every part of farm life and found joy in simple pleasures—especially spending time outdoors mowing the grass. Herb also enjoyed collecting antique farm equipment and sharing stories behind the treasures he found.
Herb welcomed everyone into his home with warmth. Whether it was family, friends, or neighbors, spontaneous visits were always encouraged, and conversations around the kitchen table were treasured. He had a huge smile and a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his three sons: John Zeager and his wife Linda, Jeffrey Zeager, and Jeremy Zeager and his wife Stacy; four grandchildren: Jacob, Rachael, Riley, and Kellen; as well as sisters: Rhoda, Ruth, Lois, Judy, Becky, and Deborah; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his brother, John Zeager, and two brothers-in-law, Maurice Hertzler and John Hershey.
Visitation will be held noon to 1:00PM on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Beaver Run Mennonite Church, 36 Derry Road, Watsontown, with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor John McCarty, officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Run Mennonite Cemetery.
