Beavertown, PA - Sept. 19-1956- Oct. 29-2025
Brian Lee Wray passed peacefully Oct. 29, 2025.
He was a 1974 graduate of West Snyder High School, after graduating he attended Tech school in Pittsburgh where he studied HVAC. He then moved to York, where he worked for Weis, and met his wife, Penny. They returned to his hometown, Beavertown, in 1986, where they built a home and raised three sons. Brian worked at Woodmode and literally kept the lights on. He was known to stroll the cabinet making shop on a buggy, where, due to his height, he could change the bulbs with no ladder required.
Brian loved telling stories about his youth basketball and baseball experiences, and of the men's softball team he traveled on. For many years he served as coach, president, treasurer, secretary and groundskeeper for the Beavertown Little League, on which all three of his sons played.
He loved hunting is his tree stand "Motel 6" on Shade Mountain. His years of dedication paid off with his final trophy being a record-breaking mega buck.
He was a talented carpenter and handyman. He was especially famous for being able to fix almost anything with silicone caulk or wood glue, and his critique of others handyman skills was renowned.
Brian was a tough old bird, and despite his medical challenges could be caught splitting wood with his prosthetics tossed to the side, or swearing after his prosthetic stuffed into a boot fell off a roof he was working on. He refused to be slowed down by or stopped by something as silly as losing his legs.
In his retirement, Brian enjoyed ruffling the feathers of family members and spending time with his granddaughters. The father of three sons found his softer side in his granddaughters. They were the light of his life and, whether watching a dance recital, school programs, or sports, his eyes lit up watching and bragging about them.
Brian was proceeded in death by his mother, Donna Mae Goss Wray, his father Gerald Franklin Wray, and brother-in-law Jay Moyer. He is survived by his wife Penny Wray, sons Justin Wray, Adam Wray, and Sam Wray; daughter in laws Lauren Wray and Brittany Wray; Granddaughters' Taylor, Hadlee, Sadie, Rylee, Emma, and Georgia; five siblings and their spouses, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
