Albert P. "Sparky" Bogart, 90, of 278 Pontius Ave., passed away Thursday afternoon, June 10, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born March 21, 1920 in Sunbury, a son of the late Clarence and Laura (Ramsey) Bogart. He was married to Edith Fisher, who preceded him on Sept. 18, 1974. He was then married to Eleanor Packer Hoskins Bogart, who survives. Sparky was a 1938 graduate of Sunbury High School. He graduated from Bucknell University in 1950 and was also a graduate of the University of Virginia Consumer Credit School. He served as a staff sergeant in the European Theatre during World War II. He was employed for 30 years at the First National Bank & Trust of Sunbury, retiring in 1982 as Senior Vice President and Cashier. He also served as a member emeritus of the Board of Directors of First Susquehanna Bank. He was a member of Albright United Methodist Church and St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Northumberland. Sparky served as treasurer and was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce and Sunbury Lions Club. He was treasurer of the John R. Kauffman Library and Degenstein Community Library from 1968-2009. He was a member and treasurer of American Legion Post 201, and a life member of the BPOE Elks 267, Masonic Lodge # 22, East End Hose Company, Consistory of Valley of Williamsport and the Sunbury Social Club. He was a member of the board of Sunbury Youth and Community Center and served as treasurer. He was also a member of SBA Score, Service Corps of Retired Executives, for 20 years. Sparky was known by his family as a Jack of all trades and was most happy when he was doing something for someone else. Above all, he liked to stay busy and in recent years enjoyed designing and constructing homes and buildings for his model trains. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his dear friend and son-in-law, Everett Walter and his wife Carol; a niece, Janet Sassaman; nephews Terry Moyer, James Messner and Gary Cooper; two step-daughters, Mary Kaye Hueker and her husband Phil, of Sidney, Ohio, and Pamela Boor, of Danville, Va.; and a step-son, David Hoskins, of Danville, Va. Also 12 grandchildren, Terina Walter Kreitzer, Cindy Walter, Sandy Hall Isom, Shane Hall, Kristi Howard Ross, Kati Howard, David Hoskins Jr., Rebekah Hoskins Formigoni, Allison Hoskins Barraza, Rachel Hoskins, Sarah Hoskins and Daniel Hoskins; also 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew Kreitzer, Mark Kreitzer, Morgan Hall, Kayleigh Hall, Mikayla Hall, Cheyanne Hall, Autumn Hall, Gabriel Barraza, Mary Ross, Hannah Ross, Daniel Barraza and Emmah Formigoni. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at David T. Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at David T. Zweier Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Degenstein Community Library, 40 S. Fifth St., Sunbury, PA 17801 or to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Second and King streets, Northumberland, PA 17857.
